Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that your body produces in the liver and nerve cells. Glutathione has shown to have a number of benefits to the human body. Those benefits include, but are not limited to, supporting immune function, removing toxins, anti-aging, breaking down free radicals, and helping to fight inflammation.
As we age our body produces less glutathione, but there are other ways to deplete your body of its natural ability to produce glutathione. For instance, taking certain medications or environmental toxins.
Medications like antivirals, antacids, antibiotics and pain medications such as the popular Tylenol and Motrin pain relievers, can all deplete glutathione. These are not the only medications that can cause depletion, but they are popular products used on a regular basis by a large number of people.
Furthermore, exposure to mercury, lead, arsenic, and the alike can all deplete glutathione in the body.
With all that being said, one can decipher how easy it can be for the body to be glutathione deficient. I constantly urge people to find natural alternatives to items such as pain killers and continuously warn them not to take these kinds of products before or after vaccination. This is due to numerous factors, but one important one is that you do not want to deplete your body any further of glutathione before or after vaccination. You want your body to be able to remove as many of the environmental toxins and free radicals in vaccines as possible.
You can help support your body by taking whole food supplements that help your body absorb the nutrients in the foods you eat- digestive enzymes for example. You can also eat foods like spinach, avocado, asparagus and okra (preferably uncooked in an effort to keep the nutrients intact). You can also take a glutathione supplement. Please be cautious though when taking any supplements and talk to your naturopathic doctor, traditional naturopath or someone along those lines with whom you are established with, beforehand. Some side effects from taking in too much glutathione may include bloating, lowered zinc levels and loose stools.
